How a phone wallet deposit works

Apple Pay and Google Pay are not money. They are a card in a different coat. When you tap the button in the SpinMills cashier, the phone hands the casino's processor a one-time token that stands in for whatever card you have loaded into the wallet, and the charge goes to that card. The casino never sees the card number. Your bank still sees a gambling merchant. That last part is what decides whether it goes through.

The sequence on an iPhone: pick Apple Pay in the cashier, type the amount, Face ID, done. Android is the same with Google Pay and a fingerprint or PIN. The balance usually shows in seconds, because to the casino it is a card payment and card payments clear instantly. If it sits, it is the bank holding it, not the casino.

The Canadian credit card problem does not go away

This is the part people get wrong. Most Canadian credit card issuers block the gambling merchant category for offshore sites or process it as a cash advance, with the fee and the day-one interest that implies. Loading that same card into Apple Pay does nothing to change the merchant category. The tap gets declined, or lands as a cash advance, exactly as the plastic would have. The wallet is cosmetic.

What does change the outcome is the card behind the wallet. A debit Visa or debit Mastercard in Apple Pay goes through more often than a credit card, because debit transactions do not have a cash-advance path and some issuers are less strict about the category. What the bonus sees

SpinMills' terms print 40x wagering on the bonus and 35x on free spins, a C$8 max bet, a 10-day window, a 5x bonus win cap and a C$160 cap on free spin winnings. None of that is specific to the wallet. We did not see a clause excluding Apple Pay or Google Pay deposits from the welcome pack, and we are not going to invent one; a lot of sites exclude Skrill and Neteller, and a card-backed wallet is usually treated as a card. Withdrawals cannot go back to Apple Pay

Apple Pay and Google Pay have no "receive" side for a casino. There is no account number to send to. A withdrawal has to go to the card behind the wallet, by card refund, or to a different method entirely, and the casino will ask you to add that method and verify it.
