How we rate casinos
Five things, weighted, scored from what the site shows before and after sign-up. No "overall experience" score, no points for a pretty lobby.

Every review on this site starts the same way: open the Canadian landing page from the link the casino gives affiliates, save it, register with a real e-mail, deposit with a method a Canadian would use, open the cashier, read the bonus terms in full, ask live chat one specific question, and try to withdraw. Then we write down what happened. The score below is how that turns into a number out of 10.
| What we score | Weight | What counts |
|---|---|---|
| Cashier | 25% | Which methods were printed before sign-up, whether Interac and CAD exist, minimum deposit and withdrawal, the fee line and the stated payout time. A cashier that hides everything behind registration loses points even if the methods turn out fine later. |
| Bonus terms | 25% | Wagering multiplier and whether it is on bonus or deposit plus bonus, max bet with a bonus live, time limit, max cashout, game weighting and the exclusion list. A big headline with 40x on D+B scores lower than a small bonus with 30x on bonus only. |
| Licence and dispute path | 20% | Curacao, Anjouan, Kahnawake or nothing printed; whether the operator company is named with an address; whether an outside complaint route exists. None of these sites are registered with iGaming Ontario, which is why we geo-block Ontario. |
| Support and honesty | 15% | Live chat that answers a specific question (we ask about the max bet rule), e-mail response time, whether the registration form guessed our country right, and whether what the site printed matched what it did. |
| Games and mobile | 15% | Studios named before sign-up, live dealer and crash games, whether the lobby search works, web app versus a real app, and how the site behaves on a phone on mobile data. |
What we do not score
Game count ("3,000+ games" is a marketing number, not a feature), the size of the welcome headline on its own, VIP programmes we cannot test without spending four figures, and anything a casino told us in an e-mail but did not print on the site.
Where the facts come from
Each review has a source: the saved landing page, the cashier screenshot, the terms page and the chat transcript. Numbers we could not see are written as "not listed", never estimated. Slot pages take RTP, max win and release dates from the studio's own page or a public game database, and say which one.
Who writes this
ToonieSlots is a small site run by MoneyPulse LLC, the same team behind casino comparison sites in Hungary, Sweden, Germany and the Czech Republic. The reviews are written by the people who did the sign-ups, then checked by a second person for numbers and banned words (we keep a list of marketing phrases that are not allowed on the site). Toonie, the polar bear, gets one line per review and is not a person.
If something on a review is wrong, write to us through the about page. Corrections are made on the page with the date changed, not in a comment section.
Questions about the method
Short and specific.
01Do casinos pay to be on ToonieSlots?
Positions 1 to 3 cannot be bought. Lower placements can be sponsored, and we say so on the About page. Links to casinos are tracked, so if you sign up we may earn a commission. The terms you get are the same either way; the commission comes from the casino's marketing budget, not from your deposit.
02How often do you re-check a casino?
Every welcome pack on the list was captured in October 2026. A crawler re-opens each landing page nightly and flags a change in the headline offer; a person re-reads the terms before the review is edited. The 'last checked' date on each review is the date of the last human pass.
03Why is the rating out of 10 and not stars?
Stars are what players give. Our number is the weighted score from the table above, rounded to one decimal. The two sit side by side on every review so you can see when they disagree.
04What gets a casino removed?
Unpaid withdrawals reported by more than one player with evidence, a licence that disappears, or terms that change after the deposit. We have removed sites from sister projects for all three.
