WHAT IT IS
Gates of Olympus in short
Gates of Olympus is the one everyone has seen on a stream. A bearded Zeus stands beside a 6 by 5 grid, symbols pay anywhere as long as eight of them land, and the whole thing is built around coloured multiplier orbs that can read anything from 2x to 500x. Pragmatic Play put it out in 2021 and it has not left the top ten of most lobbies since.
Canadians search for it because it is cheap to spin, loud when it hits and dead quiet the rest of the time. If you only play one slot a month and want a shot at a four-figure multiplier from a C$1 bet, this is the usual pick. If you want steady small wins, it is not.
HOW IT PLAYS
Base game and symbols
You do not get paylines. Eight or more of the same symbol anywhere on the 30 positions pays, the winners vanish, new symbols tumble in, and the count starts again. A good base-game spin is three or four tumbles in a row. A normal one is nothing at all.
The orbs are the point. They land as symbols with a multiplier printed on them, 2x at the low end and 500x at the top, and they only matter if a win is on screen in that tumble sequence. When the sequence ends, every orb in view gets added up and multiplied against the total win. Two 10x orbs and a 25x orb on a C$2 win pays C$90. A 500x orb with no win on the screen pays nothing, which is the part that makes people swear at the thing.
Spins are quick, especially on turbo, and your balance moves fast. Most casino bonuses cap the bet at about C$5 to C$7 a spin and exclude the bonus buy, so if you are clearing wagering, play it straight and leave the buy button alone.
Features
Tumble wins: winning symbols vanish and new ones drop in
Multiplier symbols 2x to 500x, added together at the end of a tumble
Free spins: 4 scatters give 15 spins, multipliers carry over
Ante bet doubles the chance of scatters for a bigger stake per spin
Bonus buy at 100x stake
THE FEATURE
Bonus round
Four or more Zeus scatters trigger 15 free spins. More scatters inside the round add spins, and the multiplier total is the real difference: any orb that lands on a winning tumble gets added to a running total that applies to every win for the rest of the feature. Reach 50x total by spin six and every later win is paid at 50x.
A dead bonus is 15 spins with two small wins and a 3x orb that landed on a spin with no win. It happens a lot. The bonus buy costs 100x your stake, so C$100 at C$1, and the maths says you get back roughly what you paid over the long run and far less than that on any single buy.
OUR TAKE
Should you play Gates of Olympus?
Play it if you want big swings, you have a bankroll that can sit through 150 empty spins, and you like watching a multiplier total build. Skip it if you are clearing a bonus on a small deposit: the variance eats a C$50 balance before the feature shows up. For a calmer version of the same idea, Starlight Princess plays identically with less hype, and Sweet Bonanza pays smaller but more often.

The default build returns 96.50% over the long run. Casinos can licence a lower-paying version of the same game, so open the information page inside the game before you deposit; the RTP is printed near the bottom of the rules.
02Can I play Gates of Olympus with a casino bonus in Canada?
Usually yes, but read the bonus terms first. Most Canadian-facing casinos cap the stake at around C$5 to C$7 a spin while a bonus is active, and most exclude the bonus buy entirely. Buying the feature on bonus money can void your winnings.
03Is the 5,000x max win realistic?
No. It is the hard cap, not something you plan around. You need a big win on screen with several high orbs on the same tumble, inside a feature that has already stacked a big total. Treat the number as a ceiling, not a target.
